It was an exciting time for the Tampa Bay Rays but as hard as they tried, they just didn’t win. The Rays are an awesome team and played their hearts out. Everyone in Tampa thanks you and we look forward to next year. Congrats to the Phillies. It was fun watching the joy on your faces as you realized you won. Can’t help but feel bad for our guys but watch out for next year ~ we’ll be back.
Quoted from CNN:
“It was among the most bizarre endings in baseball history, a best-of-seven series turned into a best-of-3 1/2 showdown when play resumed in the bottom of the sixth inning tied at 2. Two Rays relievers warmed up to start, and there was a pinch-hitter before a single pitch. ”God Bless America” was sung rather than the national anthem and the seventh-inning stretch came quickly. Despite low TV ratings and minus the majors’ most glamorous teams, fans will always remember how this one wrapped up. And for the first time in a long while, kids saw a World Series champion crowned before bedtime. ”
Sims Park in New Port Richey was buzzing with excitement Monday night! Senator Joe Biden joined the list of candidates who have visited this park in Pasco County for an election rally. George W. Bush spoke here as well, during his election campaign in 2004. And before that, Vice President Dan Quayle held a rally here in 1992. Biden visited New Port Richey October 27th, as the first stop on his 3-day “Early Voting for Change” campaign. Rumor has it that Sarah Palin will be there tomorrow speaking. The democratic vice presidential nominee asked the crowd to take the opportunity to use the early voting that Florida offers. Several public libraries and county offices are open across the state for early voting, and lots of folks are lining up to take advantage of it.
Sims Park is on the corner of Grand Blvd. and Bank Streets, in the center of New Port Richey’s charming downtown facing the waterfront. New Port Richey is a small city on the Pithlachascottee River, just north of Pinellas County. The historic downtown, with shops & restaurants to browse through, is home to the Richey Suncoast Theater. Topped with a golden dome, the theater dates back to 1926, when it opened with a silent film. It is now used for community theater. New Port Richey has many small affordable homes, as well as some larger older homes along the river. Surrounding areas include Trinity, with many newer homes and subdivisions. Looking for New Port Richey real estate offers many options. And maybe a chance to catch an event at Sims Park!
I stumbled on a really cool Celebrity Real Estate website today. Here you can find the homes of the rich and famous and there’s also a miscellaneous page where you can find homes that have been featured on TV shows or movies. I was disappointed that the “Mrs. Doubtfire” house in San Francisco wasn’t being shown. When my wife and I spent a week touring San Fran a few years ago she was determined to find the house. She asked everyone she could where it was and in this “20 and 30 something” town – some of them didn’t even know what she was talking about! Anyway a “50 something” desk clerk at our hotel was the one who directed us to the house. It was a little disappointing ….
Anyway, this is a cool website where you can find Barack Obama’s house – not exactly the little modest house that Eddie Murphy said it was. Well compared to Eddie’s home, anything is modest. Now that I am thinking about it, I think it was Chris Rock that said it. Shucks, I just can’t go back and edit Eddie’s house out of here, it is amazing.
Well, it appears that the White House might be a step down for John McCain? And, you can find Cher’s homes all over the Universe. Like the many hairdos, she has a lot of homes too! Good for her, she deserves it! Oh my gosh, Bill Gates has 25 bathrooms with only 8 bedrooms. What does that tell you?
When I have some time I will find the celebrities that own real estate in Tampa Bay and post back. Or, if you see any, please shoot me a comment!

Since we learned about Fred Howard Park closing for renovations (it will be closed until Fall 2009), we’ve all been wondering where else to go in Tarpon Springs to enjoy the sand and take in a sunset. Well, we discovered a little known gem not far from Howard Park called Sunset Beach. Sunset Beach is just south of Fred Howard Park, off Florida Avenue. Although the water is not ideal for swimming, this beach is a great spot to relax by the water and watch the birds. Even better, pack a picnic dinner and head down for the sunset. It’s a quiet place to watch the setting sun. If you live in Tarpon Springs you may already know this little secret, but for those who are looking for Tarpon Springs real estate, it is good to know there are so many beautiful parks here.
Another thing we found out about Sunset Beach is that they have been hosting a Music on the Beach series once a month that runs from April to November. The shows are free, although donations are welcome and go towards the construction of a Beach Pavilion to be used for concerts and other events. Upcoming dates for the remainder of 2008 are Thursdays from 7-9 PM on Oct. 16 (Dapper Dan Band) and Nov 13 (Lil Pearl & the Big Boys). Tampa Bay real estate offers many homes in and around Tarpon Springs, come take a look.
