  1. I live in Pittsburgh which is an area of the country where mortgages can easily be equal to, if not less than, rents. Obviously there are many things to take into consideration, but I can say truthfully that for some students, buying a home is a great option. Many students here buy and then rent out a part of their home to a roommate, and at the end of their school tenure they wind up with a great investment that has mostly paid for itself. Definitely something to take into consideration.
