Choices, convenience and affordability are only a few things that put the town of Carrollwood in such high demand. Carrollwood subdivisions are a well-known area located in North Tampa that has paved the way for many other surrounding communities and successful businesses. There is just about every type of home desirable in Carrollwood from gated communities, lakefront properties, mature tree-lined subdivisions, to newer elaborate communities. Conveniently located to all the major highways, there is no place in Tampa that is too far away, with an abundance of restaurants, shopping malls and businesses located right within Carrollwood homes. Both Tampa International Airport and University of South Florida are located about 20 minutes away. With Raymond James Stadium located only 15 minutes away, you even have the opportunity to turn off the television and catch a game of Tampa Bay Buccaneers or USF Bulls football! Bayshore is not like your typical community. Here you will not find homes of the same floorplan, nor will you find homes that look just like their neighbor. Bayshore homes are unique. Whatever appeals to you, traditional, modern, contemporary or historical you can find a home that suits your taste perfectly. So, what do these different, yet attractive homes have in common? Mature trees shading front yards, phenomenal views of Tampa Bay and an active lifestyle right outside your front door. Ten foot wide sidewalks, 4.5 miles long, provide the perfect place for a morning jog, an afternoon stroll or a moonlit bike with the bay at your side the entire way. In addition to the beautiful homes of Bayshore, high-rise condominiums are also popular and provide a panoramic view of Tampa right from your very own balcony. There is more to Bayshore subdivisions than just the scenery. Situated in the heart of Tampa, Bayshore provides residents convenience to nearby Tampa attractions such as Channelside, The Florida Aquarium and sports venues. Fine and casual dining in many varieties will leave you with decisions you’ve never had to make before and the multitude of shopping choices is just a whole other story! While named the #1 family zoo in America, Lowry Park Zoo has something for all ages. The Tampa zoo is home to more than 1,600 animals and 2,000 species of plants from all over the world. Get a close look at rare animals such as the sloth bears and clouded leopards and a variety of endangered primates like the tamarin. Lorikeet Landing provides a peaceful paradise where visitors can hand feed the dazzling, free flying birds. There are plenty of opportunities for guests to interact with the animals as well. Camel rides, Giraffe feeding, and the stingray touch tank are also great ways to get close with the zoo animals. At Wallaroo Station, visitors can view an array of kooky Australian creatures like the laughing kookaburra, flying foxes, and the koala bear. Guests on the more adventurous side may be interested in rides such as the Gator Flume or the Safari Ride.
The Tampa areas around the zoo offer many different choices in home ownership. Carrollwood Tampa homes are some of the most popular areas to live in and distance to the zoo is less than 20 minutes.
Lowry Park Zoo has many events scheduled throughout the year such as $5 days, Zoo Boo, and Presents for Primates. For a schedule of events, hours, directions, and ticket pricing, please visit their website at www.lowryparkzoo.com or call (813) 935-8552.
Tampa really does have some wonderful neighborhoods. The blend of old and new architecture comes together beautifully in one of my favorite areas, Davis Islands. There are many old Mediterranean style homes with historic distinction, as well as newer homes, townhouses & condos. Lots to choose from if you are looking for a home on Davis Islands. Surrounded by water, it’s a lovely place for a stroll. The main street is charming, perfect for shopping and getting a bite to eat. There is a lovely marina and the Davis Island Yacht Club, even a dog park for walking your best friend. Owning Tampa Bay real estate here is like a little slice of heaven.
Another neighborhood I love in Tampa is the Carrollwood area. Some interesting things to do in the Carrollwood area are weekend performances at the Cultural Arts center on Lowell Rd and also the Carrollwood Players Community Theater on Gunn Highway. The Carrollwood Village area is great for walking or biking, and so is Lake Carroll. And even more biking can be done on the Upper Tampa Bay Bike Trails, which lead to the Suncoast Trail. So if you plan to look for a home in Carrollwood, you’ll want to get a bike too! Carrollwood is centrally located and convenient to all the major highways. You really can’t go wrong buying Tampa real estate in Carrollwood, it’s an upscale place that you will be happy to call home.
Environmentalism has become a business advantage while home building is in a slump. There is a fast growing market for green homes and green homes are becoming synonymous with “buyer bewareâ€.
Building green means incorporating environmental features over and above mandated code standards, it also means: a field that exists largely outside official regulation. Industry standards can vary across different regions in the country.
Agencies like the Florida Green Building Coalition (founded in 2000) set key statewide standards. It is a nonprofit partnership of builders, consultants and academics. Their green home designation covers conditions across eight categories including green features like energy and water efficiency which are well known features, but also lesser known aspects such as site, lot choice and disaster mitigation. And this is where things start getting murky.
Builders may be doing three or four ‘green’ items and they call themselves a green builder, but they have no documentation. Three or four things do not make a house green. The public needs to become more educated on what makes a house ‘green’.
Builders can choose any way they want to score at least 100 points out of 300 maximum on the list offered by the coalition green home designation. Unless they ask, a buyer may never know why a home is green.
